TM RSS Toolkit (advanced RSS reader)
After we tried a lot of RSS-readers we got a decision of own RSS reader developing. By the way, we plan to spread its functionality: not only reader but writer as well.
So, with our TM RSS Toolkit you can:
bookmark RSS/Atom (any versions) feeds (on-line or local)
read feeds content
categorize your feeds as you wish
intercept of feed URLs when it clicked in Internet Explorer
Let's learn the user interface of this program.
The main window of program is presented at the picture bellow:
As you can notice the interface is not too complicated: left part - RSS feeds categories, right part - feeds content. After first loading the program version is presented, after the feed selection - the feed's content:
If you will minimize the main window of TM RSS Toolkit the program will disappear from your desktop, but you will see the tray icon of this and are able to restore it by double clicking
on this icon.
The main menu which is placed at the top of main window is enough clear to understand:
The "Tools" menu item contains a combination of all main functions of TM RSS Toolkit. You may call the feed adding dialog, refresh feeds, create feeds category, add local feed file. All
of these functions are possible to be called by another main menu items.
Local menu (right mouse click):
Adding of feeds in RSS/Atom formats is also simle: press button "Add RSS/Atom" in the main menu or choose an item with the same name in the local menu. After the adding dialog will appear:
Using main or local menu you may add feeds category/directory/group, using local menu calling by right mouse click above category (directory) name you may create unlimited number of subcategories:
You may add some local XML file as RSS feed (if it really correct feed file) by calling local feed adding dialog:
There is a possibility of feed properties editing (local menu above feed name, "Properties" item):
Refreshing of feeds is performing by different ways: all feeds probably to refresh by pressing "Refresh feeds" in main menu; concrete feed is refreshing by pressing "Refresh this feed" in
Properties feed's dialog or local menu above this feed - "Refresh feed" item.
Let's see at "Tools" menu
There are two some interesting items at the bottom: "Interception Rss Feeds" and "Skins". First means that TM Rss Toolkit catches an event of calling some RSS chanel by pressing on its URL in Internet Explorer.
Second means that you may change an appearance of this program by choosing of another skin. The additional skins set you may get by this link.
Unpack them and put them into the "Skins" directory in TM RSS Toolkit directory.
There are two files for downloading: setup.exe - for first installation, update.exe - for next installations (after you've added some personal feed links).
